Event Title: EXPLORING CHOICES STUDY
Monday, November 17, 2008
|
|
Do you find yourself taking sexual risks when you've been drinking or using drugs? Would you like to learn about how to use drugs more safely? Would you like to meet with a group of similar men to discuss how drinking or drug use might be influencing your sex life?
We are excited to invite you to take part in a group for gay and bisexual men that will explore drug use, drinking and sex. This group is part of a study that is being run by researchers and community service providers from the AIDS Committee of Toronto, Casey House, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, the Ontario AIDS Bureau, St. Michael's Hospital and the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto.
For the study, participants will be asked to attend facilitated group discussions once a week for 7 weeks in total. The goals of this group are to 1) develop and strengthen a belief that taking care of yourself is worthwhile, 2) provide information and skills to implement safer drug and sex practices, and 3) enhance motivation and confidence to implement these strategies.
To be part of this research study, you must be at least 18 years old and identify as a gay or bisexual man. To find out if you are eligible, please call our study office at 416-535-8501 x7188. In order to determine if you are eligible, we will ask you a few questions over the phone. If you are eligible, you will be invited to meet with the research assistant for a 2-hour interview, and if you consent, you will be asked to complete questionnaires. We will pay $20.00 to compensate for the time you will spend with us during this interview.
Men who take part in the study will be provided with TTC tokens for transportation to and from the meeting place. Light refreshments will also be provided for the first six sessions of the group and a meal will be offered on the last evening.
After all the group sessions are finished, we will ask you to meet with the research assistant for a follow-up interview. You will be compensated $20.00 for your time. There is a last follow-up visit, three months after completion of the group intervention, and you will also receive $20.00 in compensation for your time.
If you are interested in participating on this study, please call 416-535-8501 ext. 7188 or send us an email at exploringchoices@camh.net for more information.

Event Title: EXPLORING CHOICES STUDY
Saturday, November 22, 2008
|
|
